Blue Islands fly baby seal to Bristol
Today, Blue Islands flew Barnacle, a rescued baby seal cub from Jersey to Bristol. The little cub was found in rocks beneath the Corbiere lighthouse in Jersey by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue.
Painters working on the lighthouse spotted the orphaned seal who is believed to be just a week old. Barnacle, as he was named by rescuers, was at risk of drowning at high tide if he was left alone as he cannot swim.
Blue Islands were contacted by the rescue organisation for help to get the seal pup to a specialist RSPCA centre in Bristol. Arrangements were then quickly made for Barnacle to travel with a volunteer from Jersey to Bristol.
Best of luck to Barnacle, we hope he makes a speedy recovery before he heads out to sea again.
