NatWest Island Games XVI Jersey 2015 - Flights for Guernsey pupils
Blue Islands partnered with the Guernsey Education Department for an exciting and unique initiative to operate a series of special charter flights for each day of the Island Games to bring 180 Guernsey children from seven primary and secondary schools to Jersey.
Alun Williams, Lifelong Learning Manager at the Guernsey Education Department, said
Forty six pupils and teachers were flying to the island every day, with pupils aged between six and 16 years… ambitious yes, but it was undoubtedly a brilliant week in which everyone played their part.
During this experience the group attended 10 sports, supporting the Guernsey team, but also cheering on the participants from all islands, as they enjoyed the glorious weather throughout the games which saw fantastic achievements for both Guernsey and Jersey teams.
Mr Williams added,
Blue Islands' staff were exceptional, ensuring that our passengers were looked after and made to feel very special.
With our roots firmly in the Channel Islands it makes sense that we support an event that pulled the islands' communities together for such an amazing event,
said Rob Veron, Blue Islands' Managing Director.
