Family fun in Bristol
If you're going to Bristol this summer or have a trip planned, it’s great to think ahead for some fun ideas to keep the little ones entertained.
Bristol has some fantastic options to keep boredom at bay, so here’s a few suggestions to make memories...
With some 40 naturally themed displays, including seven major areas (one of which is a giant sunken ship replica), you’ll have the chance to learn all about marine life from all corners of the planet. Everything from species found off the UK’s coast to those much further afield, including sharks and stingrays. There's plenty to see and do, along with a themed events taking place throughout the year. Not convinced? Well they’ve also recently taken delivery of a Giant Pacific Octopus – the largest of its kind was measured at 10 metres across.
Here’s one to really get the bragging rights up: At-Bristol. This two floor science centre has literally hundreds of hands on exhibits (create your own Morph-style story board, anyone?) across all its zones. With a focus on making science exciting and accessible to everyone, it’s learning without realising you are, along with discovering new passions and understanding more about the world in which we live. As a little added bonus, it has the UK’s only 3D Planetarium, which has plenty of cool science things going on, but also lets its hair down to play Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, in full, on its 5.1 surround sound system.

For some proper ‘run around and be a kid’ action, head over to Laser Fusion. This is classic laser tag inside a purpose built arena, with castle towers, ramps, mazes and complete with swirling fog, state of the art lighting and sound effects, all making for one heck of a memorable (and exhausting) afternoon. Each game lasts 20 minutes. Suit up!
Arguably the best thing to do in Bristol: Air Hop, a place you can literally bounce off the wall. Home to the largest inter-connected series of trampolines on earth (135 in total – including sideways ones on the wall), this is the sort of place where the rules of physics really can be challenged. Huge dodgeball arenas, a gigantic dodgeball arena, and a foam pit all mean you can pull any move you want and walk away. First timers, free-running experts and everyone in between can take part in this gravity defying experience. There are even special “mini-hopper” sessions for under 5’s.
