Blue Islands selected to provide ATR expertise to Loganair
Blue Islands has been chosen by Loganair as its strategic partner as Scotland’s airline commences a programme to introduce ATR aircraft to its fleet and will draw on Blue Islands’ 10 years of experience in ATR operations.
The programme will involve Loganair’s pilots completing their ATR type rating at Blue Islands’ in-house training academy. Blue Islands will also provide technical aircraft management and operational support for the integration of the ATR into Loganair’s fleet and operating environment.
Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said,
Blue Islands is proud to partner with Loganair in this important project which is testament to Blue Islands’ training and operational infrastructure and expertise here in our Channel Islands base, having operated ATR aircraft since 2009.
Maurice Boyle, COO Loganair said,
Loganair are delighted to bring the ATR72-500F into service for its customer Royal Mail in time for its peak season. This challenging timeline has been achieved by partnering with established ATR operator Blue Islands and placing the aircraft on their AOC enabled this timeline to be met. We truly appreciate the training and operational support during this critical start-up phase.
Mr Veron added
ATR is a popular choice of aircraft in the regional airline market place, combining efficiency, cabin comfort and capacity to serve smaller regional markets that depend on high frequency schedules and year-round services. Sharing our technical and operational expertise is another development in the continued evolution of our business.
ATR has sold nearly 1,700 aircraft and has over 200 operators in more than 100 countries, operating over 5,000 flights per day. Every eight seconds, an ATR takes off or lands somewhere around the world[1].
